Engine judder when reversing has long been a curse of the AR models with mechanical (non hydraulic) operation. I was told of this modification many years ago when I met a then very elderly AR mechanic at an event in Italy. For installation on the rear vertical face of the gearbox support crossmember, as suggested by AR in a 1965 Technical Service Bulletin. The nut is welded to the front face of the crossmember, to align with the rear of the gearbox casing eye for the mounting silentbloc. Alternatively you could just use a nut either side of the front face of the crossmember. The buffer is adjusted so as to just lightly contact the casing eye or to a maximum pre-load of half a turn, thus minimising rearwards travel of the gearbox. SucceSSfully used on the AlfaStop interim series Sprint V with item # 1GB123, with the early type Crossmember.  Can be used in conjunction with AlfaStop item # 1GB123
