These New Old Stock illuminated toggle switches probably date from the late 1950's or early 1960's. They are ideal to switch items which are occasionally used &/or which have a high consumption, such as fog or spot lights, reversing lights, or heated screens. The switch requires a dashboard hole of 16mm diameter. Now quite rare & much sought after by preparers of historic rally cars, they look so much more period than modern illuminated switches.
 
They are made by Trico, an old established British company, who incidentally had marketing agreements with Carello, so they could well have been sold in Italy by Carello when your car was new.
