Alfa Romeo High Performance Competition Cylinder Head Gaskets - Our supplier has been manufacturing high performance cylinder head gaskets for racing applications since the early 1980s. Developed in conjunction with several leading European engine developers and race teams, the gaskets withstand high temperatures, pressures and mechanical stresses. Components of these gaskets include modern technology based composite materials & stainless steel. The composite material's molecules form long straight chains, producing a substance five times as strong as steel by weight. Additional properties include: * a high tensile strength * flame resistance (self extinguishing and does not melt) * excellent dimensional stability * low thermal shrinkage * good chemical resistance Stainless steel is used to manufacture the most important part of a cylinder head gasket, the bore rings. In this area temperatures regularly reach 300C, with 1000C peaks. The stainless steel used in this application is of the "binded" type, containing other metals including chromium and molybdenum which increase its quality both as mechanical strength and thermal resistance.
